* Durante su visita, la máxima autoridad regional recorrió las obras de construcción del Nuevo Hospital Veterinario (Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias), y las del nuevo Edificio Multimedial de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Ingeniería (Campus Miraflores).
Favorable acogida tuvo el proyecto «Centro de investigaciones agropecuarias de zonas húmedas del sur de Chile» presentado por un grupo de investigadores de la Universidad Austral de Chile al Intendente de la Décima Región, Patricio Vallespín, durante una reunión efectuada ayer (lunes 13 de octubre) a las 17.30 horas en la Sala de Sesiones de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias UACh (Campus Isla Teja).
En la oportunidad estuvieron presentes el Rector de la UACh, Prof. Carlos Amtmann; el Director de Investigación y Desarrollo, Dr. Achim Ellies; y los Decanos e investigadores de las Facultades de Ciencias Agrarias, Ciencias Veterinarias, Ciencias Forestales y Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas, macrounidades involucradas en este proyecto.
El Decano de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, Prof. Daniel Alomar, valoró que la máxima autoridad regional haya felicitado la iniciativa UACh, señalando que cumplía con las aspiraciones de la región.
Según explicó, la idea es lograr el compromiso de la Intendencia de postular esta iniciativa al concurso de Centros Regionales de CONICYT, que sean referentes nacionales en diferentes áreas temáticas en las regiones. A su juicio, una de las fortalezas de este proyecto es la asociación con el Centro Regional de Investigaciones Remehue, de INIA, ubicado en la Provincia de Osorno.
Tras esta reunión, el Intendente Vallespín visitó las obras de construcción del Nuevo Hospital Veterinario (Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias), proyecto que demandará una inversión de 1.400 millones de pesos financiados con recursos de un proyecto de Mejoramiento de la Calidad de la Educación Superior (MECESUP) del Ministerio de Educación y fondos de esta casa de estudios.
Posteriormente visitó en terreno la construcción del nuevo Edificio Multimedial de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Ingeniería (Campus Miraflores), obra que tiene un valor de 500 millones costeados por esta universidad y el sector privado.
Proyecto UACh
Tal como informó el Dr. Daniel Calderini (Instituto de Producción y Sanidad Vegetal UACh) durante la presentación realizada ayer (lunes 13 de octubre) al Intendente de la Xª Región, este centro de investigaciones tendrá por principal objetivo estudiar las cadenas agroalimentarias de regiones húmedas del sur de Chile, evaluando su funcionamiento actual y el posible impacto que tendrán sobre ellas los distintos escenarios futuros.
A ello agregó que entre las líneas de investigación de este centro se encuentran la identificación de las áreas agroecológicas de la Xª Región, el desarrollo de modelos de simulación para aplicar a los sistemas productivos, el estudio de la sustentabilidad de los sistemas productivos, la evaluación del impacto del cambio climático sobre la productividad y sustentabilidad, la evaluación económica y estratégica de los acuerdos comerciales, y la generación de un sistema experto para evaluar distintas alternativas técnicas en relación a los escenarios futuros.
