La Escuela de Terapia Ocupacional de la Universidad Austral de Chile realizó recientemente su Inauguración de Año Académico 2011, ocasión en la cual presentó la Clase Magistral “Transformaciones en la Intervención con Personas con Problemas de Salud Mental y Enfermedades Psiquiátricas en Chile”, de la docente de esta carrera, Dra. Jimena Carrasco Madariaga.
En la sala Paraninfo DAE y ante la presencia de la Prodecana de la Facultad de Medicina, doctora Verónica Hering, la Secretaria Académica Dra. Silvia Hein, la Directora de la Escuela de Terapia Ocupacional Prof. Christiane Stehr, docentes, y gran cantidad de estudiantes, la Dra. Carrasco dio a conocer el estudio con el cual optó al grado de Doctorado en Psicología Social en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, España.
Cuestionando lo “normal”
La investigación, según explico la Dra. Jimena Carrasco, se desarrolló con el propósito de “aportar una aproximación crítica a las actuales formas de intervención social, con personas denominadas con problemas de salud mental y enfermedades psiquiátricas en Chile”.
Para la especialista, las transformaciones que se han dado en las formas de este intervención social en estos casos, “son producto de los cambios sociales e históricos recientes en Chile, los que tienen efectos sobre las vidas de los sujetos a ser intervenidos, así como sobre la configuración de la realidad para los interventores y para la sociedad en su conjunto”.
Para la realización de este trabajo se utilizó un acercamiento etnográfico, accediendo directamente a los espacios de intervención para observar y describir las prácticas tal y como ocurren en los contextos reales. En este caso, el espacio de intervención fue un Centro de Intervención Comunitaria en Valdivia.
Como sustento teórico, se utilizó la teoría de poder de Michel Foucault (1976, 1979), cuya propuesta se basa en un cuestionamiento a lo instituido como verdad, específicamente en lo referente al sujeto y a la razón, y con ello, a los comportamientos considerados como normales.
La Dra. Carrasco especifica que “desde la propuesta de Foucault se desprende la noción de Gubernamentalidad que, a diferencia de otras aproximaciones que centran en la relación Estado y sociedad, entiende el poder no cómo algo que está en una situación de exterioridad, sino como una microfísica presente en todo nivel de relaciones”.
Los hallazgos de esta investigación, según su autora, permiten “proponer a los nuevos escenarios de intervención como espacios de reconfiguración de lo biomédico, lo social y lo comunitario, en el marco del actual discurso neoliberal y colonial”. Al mismo tiempo, se pesquisaron tensiones y conflictos, para abrir nuevas posibilidades de transformación en estos espacios.
La Directora de la Escuela de Terapia Ocupacional UACh, Prof. Christiane Stehr, destacó la presentación como “significativa y un aporte para la comunidad universitaria y local”.
