Un centenar de estudiantes de primero medio colmó los pasillos del Liceo Santa María La Blanca de Valdivia y no precisamente durante el recreo. En el marco de la Iniciativa Cultura CTI que ejecuta la Universidad Austral de Chile, los jóvenes exhibieron un total de 27 pósters científicos acerca de fenómenos físicos de la vida cotidiana.
Esta Feria Científica fue impulsada a través del Proyecto Acción STEM: El cuento y la cuenta, historias que despiertan científicos, y organizada entre un equipo científicos informáticos UACh y el profesor de física del establecimiento educacional, Claudio Cuevas. Según el docente, “este tipo de iniciativas permite que la teoría impartida en el aula la pongamos en práctica. En este caso realizamos una serie de experimentos, cuyos resultados pudimos obtener gracias al uso de unas tablet que poseemos y que cuentan con aplicaciones que permiten medir, por ejemplo, la magnitud de onda que emite el acorde de una guitarra”.
Los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de presentar los experimentos realizados en clases a lo largo del proyecto, trabajo reflejado en atractivos pósters científicos más la entusiasta explicación grupal. Incluso prepararon una zona de experimentación en la que exhibieron y explicaron sus experimentos, involucrando guitarras, autos de juguete y péndulos. Los resultados fueron medidos gracias al uso de aplicaciones en tablet y celulares.
Cultura CTI Los Ríos promueve el fortalecimiento de un aprendizaje significativo que involucre necesariamente el trabajo sobre actitudes, habilidades o conocimientos en alguna medida. Estos valores entorno al aprendizaje toman forma a través de un plan de trabajo fruto de un co-diseño, entre profesores y científicos, poniéndolo en práctica, ya sea en aula o terreno, a través de una co-docencia.
Usando la tablet para aprender física
Henrique Chevreux forma parte de esta experiencia de innovación educativa, según diagnosticó al comenzar el proyecto. De un 80% de estudiantes con acceso a dispositivos electrónicos como tablet o celulares, solo un 10% conocía su potencial educativo. Ante esta realidad, el científico señala que “al reducir esta brecha, utilizando tabletas y celulares como instrumentos de medición en las clases de física, se nota como los estudiantes sienten una mayor conexión entre la ciencia y lo cotidiano, lo que fomenta la experimentación y aplicación del método científico en cualquier momento”.
“Se ha realizado un trabajo valorado por el establecimiento y que genera un cambio que ayuda a la actualización de la enseñanza acercando la ciencia en contexto de cotidianidad”, plantea Chevreux.
En palabras del Alcalde de Valdivia, Omar Sabat, “es muy importante afianzar este tipo de alianzas que permiten que muchos de los alumnos de nuestros establecimientos educacionales tengan la posibilidad de adquirir sus conocimientos de forma activa y creativa, en el ámbito de las ciencias, tecnología e innovación. Por ello, valoramos positivamente el trabajo que está realizando Cultura CTI Los Ríos”.
