The arrival of the Oxford and Cambridge university rowers, special guests at the First International Rowing Competition, «50th Anniversary Cup Universidad Austral de Chile», is programmed for Sunday November 7th.
The competition, which will also count with the participation of a group of Brazilian rowers, is organised by Universidad Austral de Chile to commemorate its 50th anniversary. It also, has the valuable contribution of the Chilean Rowing Fedaration through the Asociacion de Regional Austral de Remo (Austral Regional Rowing Association).
The official programme is scheduled to begin on Monday November 8th with training in different Valdivian sports clubs, a tour of the city campus and meetings with university authorities as a way of the strengthening bonds with these traditional and prestigious centres of higher education.
The programme includes activities with high schools of Valdivia, as well as a technical seminar for sports fans.
The scenario of the International competition will be Valdivia, the only navigable city in Chile, which is surrounded by a system of seven rivers: Calle -Calle, Valdivia, Cau-Cau, Cruces, San Pedro, Tornagaleones and Guacamayo rivers.
A series of races with the participation of national rowers from different cities in Chile is scheduled for Friday November 12th. The official competition, with foreign and national teams participating in the, Eight Olympic. is programmed for noon on Saturday 13th.
The start will be at the Mulatas area.The finish line will be at the Mirador de Remo (six thousand metres of distance) on Prat Avenue, close to the Calle Calle Bridge.
