Estudiantes, académicos y funcionarios de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Ingeniería UACh se reunieron este mediodía para realizar una velatón y así honrar la memoria de Joaquín Castellano, profesor de física que falleció el pasado viernes 3 de abril.
Joaquín Castellano fue profesor de estado de física y matemática y gestor de la idea del programa «Talentos para Ingeniería», que está orientado a los estudiantes de cuarto medio de colegios municipales y particular subvencionados. A través de este programa los estudiantes inscritos pueden fortalecer y ampliar sus talentos. El académico igualmente integró la directiva del Sindicato de Docentes de la Universidad Austral de Chile y fue docente de la desaparecida Universidad Técnica del Estado en Valdivia.
Durante la actividad, realizada en el edificio del Centro de Docencia de Ciencias Básicas para la Ingeniería, del cual el docente era parte, se recordó fallecido profesor con sentidas palabras en su honor. También se prendieron velas, depositaron flores en el lugar para terminar con un aplauso para el académico.
Cabe destacar que esta iniciativa nació de los mismos estudiantes de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Ingeniería. Alirio Zamorano, estudiante de Ingeniería Civil en Informática y uno de los gestores de la velatón, destacó la importancia que el profesor Castellano tuvo en la formación inicial de quienes estudian en esta universidad. “Como Facultad de Ingeniería consideramos que el profesor Castellano fue para nosotros una de las figuras más importantes paras los que veníamos recién adentrándonos en el área de la física. Por lo mismo consideramos necesario hacer un homenaje al profesor en el lugar donde el compartió y pasó gran parte de su tiempo como docente. La convocatoria fue más grande de lo que esperábamos, quedando demostrado que el cariño hacia el profesor era grande”, dijo.
Durante la velatón participaron estudiantes, académicos y funcionarios de las diversas Escuelas e Institutos que componen la Facultad de Ciencias de la Ingeniería UACh. “Esto tremendamente valioso y destaca las cosas que se hacen casi en silencio. Se ve un reconocimiento de quienes compartieron con él. Lo que aquí se hace dice mucho”, explicó Erik Araya, académico del Instituto de Informática.
Recolección de firmas
Otras de las iniciativas con las que los alumnos de Ingeniería UACh buscan destacar la trayectoria y dedicación de Joaquín Castellano, es nombrando uno de los laboratorios de física con su nombre.
Para este fin, los alumnos del Campus Miraflores se encuentran recolectando firmas para elevar una solicitud formal al Decano.
Marcia Terán, una de las encargadas de recolectar firmas, explicó que esta idea «nació de todos los alumnos de la Facultad, por lo que esperamos juntar firmas equivalentes a un tercio del estudiantado».
Las listas, que pueden firmar estudiantes, académicos y funcionarios, se ubicarán en lugares estratégicos del Campus.
