La Unidad de Deportes de la Universidad Austral de Chile (Pelluco) y el Colegio "The American School" de Puerto Montt han organizado un evento de tenis para el próximo domingo 19 de noviembre en la Cancha del Rancho Los Álamos (a mano izquierda llegando a Pto. Varas por el Camino Alerce) de Puerto Varas. <p>Este campeonato, organizado en conjunto por las dos instituciones educacionales, cuenta con características especiales e históricas, pues se trata de una competencia por equipos al estilo de los "Inter. Clubes" jugado por un equipo de colegio contra una representación universitaria.</p><p><strong>Equipo de Tenis the American School</strong></p><p>Conocido es en la región el notable nivel de varios de los estudiantes que integran el equipo de tenis del colegio "The American School" de Puerto Montt y de la gran experiencia que tiene esta institución con este deporte. El colegio tiene ya 8 años de desarrollo en esta especialidad deportiva y el número de estudiantes menores vinculados a los talleres extraprogramáticos de tenis son numerosos en todos estos años.</p><p>Varios de estos niños han sido protagonistas del ranking de menores a nivel nacional y otros han representado a la región en nacionales de tenis y en los juegos del Bicentenario en esta especialidad.</p><p><strong>Tenis en UACh</strong></p><p>La situación del tenis en la casa universitaria de la Universidad Austral de Chile en Puerto Montt es más reciente, de hecho se inició a partir de este año 2006, con la llegada del profesor de educación física Víctor Cabello quien dentro de su preparación profesional es especialista en esta disciplina.</p><p>Al respecto el profesor Víctor Cabello recordó que<em> </em>"a inicios de este año solicitamos permiso a la autoridad del Campus, quien nos apoyó, para realizar un Taller 'Experimental' de Tenis que resultó todo un éxito en término de alumnos interesados"<em>,</em> indicó el profesor que los cupos se completaron antes de iniciar el curso y tuvieron que abrir otro horario para completar 50 alumnos participando regularmente en este deporte.</p><p>"Hoy en día el Campus tiene mucho interés en este deporte", destacó el profesor Cabello. Manifestó además que estaban felices de poder dar a los alumnos esta oportunidad de intercambios deportivos.</p><p>Respecto al punto de vista competitivo señaló el profesor de tenis que los estudiantes están comenzando y aprendiendo, sin embargo el principal objetivo es involucrar a los estudiantes en actividades deportivas que se hagan permanente con una clara identidad institucional.</p><p>El profesor Víctor Cabello explicó finalmente que el deporte es una oportunidad única de crecimiento y desarrollo humano en muchos aspectos por lo cual agradeció a las instituciones involucradas por el compromiso y apoyo a los jóvenes que quieren hacer deporte y vida sana.</p>
